My Weapons Against the Boredom

As a full-time student in no matter which level you are, there must be a time when you feel like you just want to stop from whatever you’re doing right now and get away from all of your dozens assignments and routines. Yep! That’s what happen to me when the boredom and demotivation come as an ally and try to pick a fight with me.

There are three activities that I use as my major weapons to fight against the boredom. The first one is reading a novel. I don’t really remember when was the first time I fell in love with reading a novel. But whenever I read a novel I feel like I was drawn into the stories, as if I was in the different world and situations. Moreover, if it was my favorite genres of a novel such as romance, sci-fi, and action. It relaxing me to just read about some stories and imagining ‘if I was the main character’ and think about what response will I give to each plot scribed by the author, and about what will be the ending if it’s my choice to be written.

The second weapon is listening to some easy listening music. Music has a power in brightening your day. Even when you’re having a bad day, just listen to some music with your preferred song or genre, it does a magic work in making your day feels a little less terrible. I listen to music almost every day. You know there is a saying “headphones in, the world out.”? Yep! That’s what I feel whenever I listen to the pop songs I liked using my headphones. I just feel like I was drawn into the songs, it relaxing me. And sometimes end up by me karaoke-ing the song like I was the singer of the song, though my voice was nowhere as good as the singer’s voice.

The last weapon in fighting the boredom for me is a sport. I like to discover something new while also improving myself. That’s why when the boredom comes and the first two weapons I mention above seems not really working at the moment, then doing sport it is. My favorite sport is swimming. The feeling when you hold your breath and manage your hands and feet to keep moving under the water is exhausting but it feels good for me. It trains me to keep my calm and my mind straight when facing a problem. And it also such a joy to play with the water. Moreover, if you swim with your friends.

So that’s my major weapons that I usually use to fight against the boredom. What are your weapons? Feel free to comment down here!

And definitely, will hunt those novels and read them when I’m able to. Hmm.. well, I would recommend you to read The Eye of Minds by James Dashner. One of the mind-blowing novel I think, yet I haven’t read the rest of the sequel.
